Book your fieldwork excursion now to get the date you want!

We provide professional, educational programs delivered by DoE teachers.

The Wetlands and Awabakal Environmental Education Centres are DoE schools and offer a range of excursion opportunities for students from Kindergarten to Year 12.

Programs promote the integration of environmental sustainability and Aboriginal education with key learning areas including: Science and Technology, Geography, History, Biology, Earth and Environmental, Senior Science and also provide opportunities to link with other Key Learning Areas.

CLIMATECAM - Work on environmental projects and achieve 'eco stars'. Now open to DoE schools in the Hunter.

GIFTED AND TALENTED DAYS - students participate in activities around a chosen topic to extend student learning and opportunities.

NAIDOC DAY - hosts students for a day to complete a variety of activities to celebrate NAIDOC Week.

IN SCHOOL SUPPORT - Including: incursions, energy trailer, post excursion video conference and audits CURRICULUM SUPPORT - staff development in environmental sustainability.

SPECIAL EVENTS

Wet & Wild - Runs for four weeks at the beginning of Term 3. Internet research competition which integrates technology, research & environmental education. For senior primary students. Download clues, solve the problem, email responses. No cost.

Envirothon – Term 2. Environmental challenge against other schools for teams of four Year 10 and 11 students. Investigate a real life environmental issue using fieldwork techniques and present response to a panel of judges. No cost.

Grime Scene Investigation -  a hands-on fieldwork investigation involving a Stage 3 team of five scientists from your school to investigate a location in the local environment. The team works together as an environmental consultancy team and investigates a selected location for the local council. Student teams from various schools will participate together on the same day.
